Questions to Ask Yourself When DIYing Your Brand (Free Guide Inside!)
I’ve spent my afternoon prepping for my first live talk on Brand Design (yes, I am terrified!) The wonderful Jo at Oh my Squad is hosting her weekly free Friday laptop party and is kindly giving me time to talk to fellow small business owners and start-ups directly. The subject? “Questions to Ask Yourself When DIYing Your Brand”. If you know me, you’ll know I am all about detail and this is no exception. When it comes to Brand Design (and the prep work) its all about understanding the details of your business. So, after spending time trying to work out how to distill this into a 15 minute talk (and deciding I have not idea how to give the subject justice in this time) I have created this free download to help small businesses far and wide understand what they need to establish to create their own stand out brand identity.
Questions to Ask Yourself When DIYing Your Brand
(Free Guide!)
My mantra is: “Your business is special and your brand should be too”. Thats easy for me to say, but sometimes when you’re starting out, or things aren’t going as well as you hoped at the moment (which is entirely ok and we should talk about it more), or you’re just not in a position to budget for a professionally designed brand, the thought of doing it yourself can be both overwhelming and soul crushing.
Having a well designed brand gives you so much confidence and a new found energy and determination. DIYing your brand can often leave people feeling the opposite and I want to try to change that. I will always be an advocate for investing in your business when you can, but when you’re not in a place to do that, I want to help too!
So here is the big (not so) secret. The key to branding isn’t about fancy fonts or perfect colours, it’s about prep work and meaning.
Brands that truly resonate (and last) are built with intention. That means doing the ground work before jumping into design tools. In my experience working with small businesses and creative entrepreneurs, the ones who take time to reflect first always come out with branding that feels clear, confident, and completely theirs.
To help you get started, I’ve created a free DIY Brand Quick Guide , a two-page worksheet that will walk you through all the essential questions and choices to make your brand feel thoughtful, strategic and cohesive.
Perfect for:
Creatives, makers, and solo founders
Business owners on a budget
Designers working with clients who want clarity
